Dear readers, if you haven’t made it out to one of my monthly MeetUps of the DC Goodwill Fashionistas group, you are really missing out. There is never a dull moment when you get a group of savvy shopping fashionistas together in a Goodwill store. If you’re looking for some justification for what you might consider an ‘unecessary’ purchase while shopping alone, you’ll be sure to have a good time with us! We determined last week you can never have too many black patent heels, black tops, well – really black anything, nude patent shoes… and the list goes on. We cheer each other on, trade size info and search for the latest and greatest Goodwill finds. I’ll say after doing this for a few months – we are pretty dang good at what we do!
This month we shopped around the S. Glebe Road store on a Thursday evening and I can assure you, no rack went untouched. I’m pretty sure we snagged something from just about every department, too. From jewelry stands to spring form pans (that was one of my finds! Cheesecake, anyone?), no one went home empty handed! Here are some highlights of our finds.
Danielle found some of the cutest kids wear I’ve seen at Goodwill and of course, a little something for herself too. I loved this baby bag she scored. It’s a great size and doesn’t scream “THIS IS A BABY BAG!” The monochrome pattern is a favorite of mine and undeniably on trend this season. Take a peek at these sneakers, too. The laces were actual pink satin ribbons and they had . These were so on trend with athletic-inspired lines we’ve been seeing.
Tonya was a first timer at our Meetup but she’s no stranger to the DCGF. I had the pleasure of attending the first Modage Style Goodwill Bus Tour with her and I know that she is a seriously savvy shopper! She scored one of my favorite shoe finds of the night. Look at those leopard pointed toe flats; they were hair calf, too. She got them for just over $11.00 with her coupon. She also found a brand new Ann Taylor blouse still with the original tag attached. It’s a great color for all seasons!
Sam, the DCGF Meetup veteran, also scored a cart full of fab finds. She’s a researcher, dear readers! As we shop, she does her research on brands to see what kind of deal she’s scoring from Goodwill. Glebe certainly didn’t leave her disappointed. She wins the best sweaters award for the evening; two uniquely trendy styles for under $10.00. She researched the blue sweater as we were sorting through our carts and realized it sold for over $100.00 at Urban Outfitters. That makes the $5.98 from Goodwill even sweeter. And I can’t forget to mention her new Franco Sarto wedges! They are the perfect neutral to be dressed up or down. We are the same shoe size, so we always laugh at who can find those 8.5 sizes first!
And, that wasn’t all we found, dear readers! We had another amazing shopper, Kat, who I think I talked to so long I forgot to snap a pic of her amazing finds. She scored a beautiful, long Arden B winter coat, J Crew Cords and a ton of cute blouses. I’m sure she will back at our next one so I can share all her finds with you.
Keep a lookout on Facebook for the announcement of my next Meetup! I’d love to shop along with you!
