New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio won a
second term a few weeks ago — despite, as it turns out, having
some pretty famous competition.
A list of all the people who received votes in the
2017 N.Y.C. mayoral election was released by the city’s Board
of Elections on Wednesday, and it has a few familiar names on
it. Quite a few, in fact: Though there was a lighter turnout
for this year’s mayoral election than in years past,
The New York Times reported that there were
more write-in votes than ever.
And it turns out there are a lot of big names that New Yorkers

DeBlasio’s predecessor, Michael Bloomberg, was the most popular
write-in candidate, nabbing almost 1,000 votes. Hillary Clinton was a
popular write-in candidate, too, receiving 240 votes city-wide.

votes, as well. So did Michelle Obama. And the other famous names?
